Children’s Bible Geography Lessons

Making the Bible come to life!

Sam started teaching the geography and culture of the Bible to children when she helped bring the workshop rotation model to Northside Church of Christ in Wichita, Kansas in 2007. Since the, she’s written over thirty hands-on lessons for kids to bring the Bible to life.

Sam also serves on the writing team at the non-profit online resource, Rotation.org – the home for lesson plans and activities for churches who have adopted the workshop rotation model.

Below are links to two sample lessons that Sam has written for Rotation.org, and to the right is a select playlist of geography lessons on the Geo-Logos YouTube channel.

Sample Rotation.org Lessons

The full lessons are available for subscribers at Rotation.org, but here are a couple of quick examples of the lessons you can find there. Click on the titles or the photos to take you to the page featuring all the lessons by the wonderful curriculum writers.

Ruth & Naomi’s “Geo Journey”

Travel with Ruth & Naomi as they journey from Moab to Bethlehem on a less-traveled route, the lesser-known southern route across the Dead Sea.

Sam wanted to explore this route to help the kids understand the significant commitment the two women had to each other to go on such a dangerous journey.

The Good Samaritan “Geo Art Workshop”

Create a hands-on clay relief map of the Jericho road to see how the treacherous terrain impacts the meaning of Jesus’s parable of the Good Samaritan.

Sam wanted the kids to see how geographically close the Judean Jews and the Samaritan Jews lived to each other, but how spiritually far apart they were.
